Hi all! I have been a long time foobar2000 user but have basically used it as is. I've downloaded it from filehippo since version 0.9. I remember that I can download from the foobar2000.org a long time ago but now cannot. I didn't mind downloading from filehippo cause, like I said, I used it as is. but now that I'm experimenting with the plugins available, I'm running into a problem again cause, like the main foobar2000 installer, I can't download official plugins from foobar2000.org. whenever I click the download links, it just brings me back to the http://www.foobar2000.org
I don't know if it's only me having this kind of problem but I tried using FF, IE and Opera browsers, but it's all the same problem. I tried pasting the download links directly to my download manager, still the same.
assistance is very much appreciated... thanks everyone!

I just double checked, I am able to download the installer just fine off of the main foobar page. Have you tried right clicking on the link, choosing "Save link as.." and not using any download manager?

yes, tried that. but although the file is an .EXE (as a result of Save link as...), it is only 5KB and actually an HTML file of http://www.foobar2000.org

Have you tried turning of the download manager completely ? Sounds like, that thing is doing something screwy smile.gif

This could also be the effect of referrer removal in the firewall.

FWIW, I used to have the same problem. E.g. downloading the latest foobar2000 version. Sometimes it works, most of the times it doesn't work. At least not on first try.

Using GetRight never worked.

Using FlashGet sometimes worked. If it fails, I keep retrying.

I got higher success percentage using DownThemAll. It is smart enough to detect that the "HTML-masquerading-as-exe" file downloaded is not what I was looking for, and I just hit "Resume", and download will restart. If the download progress goes over 100kB, then I know it is downloading the right file, and I let it rip.

I tried it with and without a download manager on FF, Opera and IE7. I figured it's got to do with me being behind a router/firewall as mentioned by foosion. (thanks!) I was able to download correctly by bypassing the firewall, though not as fast. Not a safe computing practice, but don't think it would be a big deal since it's only when I download from foobar2000.org.
Anyways, got a workaround now, so thanks to everyone! smile.gif
