We do not need a seekbar.

What would be nice is a function to specify where in the song to skip to, using either time cues or a percentage of completion.

Example: Bind function to key F12.

Press F12, type "50% [enter]" and it seeks to the middle of song.
Press F12, type "5% [enter]" and it seeks to the beginning of the song when the timer is set to show time elapsed, or to the end of the song when the timer is set to show time remaining.
Press F12, type "1s [enter]" and it seeks one second in the song. It is best to parse 1s/1m/1h rather than 00:00:00.00 times because of potential confusion for 00:00 and 00:00:00 when it comes to hours, etc.

Edit: Please note that this kind of seeking based on clock position wouldn't be 100% reliable for some VBR files, but then neither would a seekbar.

Have you actually tried binding F12 to an action? Maybe its just me, but it won't let you (at least as a global key)..

If it would really be a jump to time dialogue, I'd rather it was relative to the remaining time, not the whole song - i.e. jump 20 secs ahead, or jump 20% ahead or something.

Sorry, F12 was just example, I never tried binding it.

In my mind, if you wanted to just forward or back relative to position, prefix your 1m/1s/1h with a + or - character. That seems consistant.

Same with the percentage. 20% would be hard 20%, while -20% and +20% would be 20% forward or back relative to position.

Well, Tristram.mp3 is still broken. I doubt it will ever get fixed.

Well, maybe foobar's emphasis is on audio quality, but it should atleast have the basic button controls and seeking options....

for example, while moving the seek bar, it will show on what minute we're at, and if u leave ur mouse it would go there, and if u press esc then it would go back to where' the song was playing..

Basic seeking support exists through the use of the arrow keys and alt+ arrow keys by default, and I've had no problems with this.

If you want a toolbar, X-Fixers foo_butt is fine and configurable.
