Full Version: Streaming Music Over LAN

I'm looking for away to stream music over LAN much like DAAP + iTunes, but I don't like iTunes. Wombatshare seems to be the next best thing, but It's kind of old, doesn't have a really good UI for Winamp, and it doesn't support Foobar2000 v0.9. Wonder if any of you guys had any thoughts. Thanks.

take a look at sirocco wireless audio bridge from sondigo. the beauty of this thing is that it lets you play your music all around your house and it does not tie you down to any particular software player. i am not sure whether this is exactly the kind of gadget you are looking for, but it might be useful!

Tried this out, I guess it could be cool.. lol I'm going to have to go through and correct my tags, Why does this thing have a problem reading tags when ever other player I used reads them fine?

Sorry for the stupid question, but what do you want to do? What kind of streaming is needed? I'm not familiar with it.

I'm not entirely sure what you're after, but GNUMP3d is a good cross platform, cross client streaming server.

The problem with this nice hardware is availability... Only in USA, sold by manufacturer and some other
shops, 2 or 3... And they not ship to Poland, where I live. This is brilliant solution I always was looking for.
It can transfer anything you are playing in Windows, just because it's driver acts as one another music
soundcard. This is problably one and only solution of this kind for now on the market.
It can even transmit DD 5.1 through optical TOS link, without decoding it, ideal for connecting to
DD/DTS enabled home amplifier. Documentation does not mention about DTS, but as DD5.1
is nothing more as passing through bitstream, DTS maybe also can pass wirelessly.

Only when I get one, I will test it's ability of passing digital streams direct to hardware DD/DTS decoder.

There is no Linux driver, but I hope Sondigo is developing one... or - someone will do some
reverse engineering and write Linux module for this hardware smile.gif
