I've downloaded WMP11 to see what its like and when i try and use the crossfading it doesnt seem to work properly. For example in wmp10 with a crosfading of 0.3 seconds, when im listening to Tools Lateralus album songs 6 - Parabol and 7 - Parabola mix seamleasy together but when using wmp11 when it gets to the end of parabol it jumps 0.3 seconds into parabola, meaning 0.3 seconds of parabola are skipped. Is anybody having the same issue ive downloaded the wmp11 exe about 5 times and no change. This gets very annoying when trying to listen to albums thats tracks run together.

Thanks.

You will probably never get a decent reply regarding WMP on HA.org, most people here doesn't like the Windows Media related softwares too much, so i advice you to ask that question on Microsoft's Windows Media Player Newsgroups instead, and i'm sure you'll get a informative answer.

Thanks Bidz for the advice i personaly use foobar for my listening needs, but my family use WMP when using the computer and i thought there would be an easy fix but no luck. Anyway went back to WMP10 and everything works fine again must be a problem with WMP11 cant wait for the joy of vista.

That used to be the case until within the past year, when:
1 - WMP 11 was released
2 - WMPTSE was released
In fact, you'll find the thread here about #2 above to be quite active.

I'm a WMP11 user myself and haven't noticed any crossfading problems.

Well, where did you get that information from? There're quite a few Windows Media users around, just have a look at the above mentioned discussions about WMPTSE and WMP11. There were also some discussions running about the new WMA 10 Professional codec, last but not least the WMA codecs were included in the latest 48 kbps listening test.

Though I'm not using WMP and WMA myself, I view both as neutral as I do with other audio players/codecs discussed in these forums as well. I prefer being objective instead of simply claiming anything developed by Microsoft was s..t. Hence, please abstain from scaring Windows Media users off next time.

Perhaps he means that compared to discussion on other players, WMP talk is relatively scarce here. Most of the Windows Media anything talk has really been about the codec, not so much the player itself.

Ummm... the WMPTSE thread is definitely about the player...

I said most, not all.

Hey hey now, there's nothing wrong with WMP11, actually i use it alot myself and i really like it.

My past experiences on HA.org regarding trying to discuss anything related to Microsoft's media software has not been good at all, so i adviced him to check out Microsoft's own newsgroups since i myself have received lots of answers there that i never got here on HA.org myself regarding Microsoft's media software/codecs.

The lack of a dedicated WMA codec section pretty much sums it up, considering every other major (and non-major) codec has their own forum sections.

Just got tired of the "why use WMP, use fb2k" "why use WMA, use AAC or MP3" and the negative attitudes towards anything made by Microsoft on these forums.

I'm with you on that one. WMP11's actually an extremely capable player with features unavailable on either free or paid alternatives that many people here overlook simply because it's an MS product. The deliberate sidelining of the WMA codec in the forums despite the fact that it's hardware/software playback support is 2nd only to MP3's is also disappointing, so I can see your point.

The reason I replied originally is that there are unbiased users here who actually use both of the above and can help others who have questions... so I'd rather they not immediately be directed away.
