hi,
i am always left with about a second or more of extremely low volume, that i just wish that eac would consider it to be silence, and delete that with the totally silent portion at the end.
is there a way to manipulate what loudness level is considered to be silent, in the EAC program ?
i could not find any box that would allow me to put a db level in it.
thanks
Not in EAC, no. You'd need another program to do that.
I would assume the CD's table of contents says where the track ends so EAC keeps reading until the TOC says stop reading.

The OP was reffering to ripping track files in EAC with the option "Delete leading and trailing silent blocks" enabled

I know that it's a little cumbersome in the long run, but you can trim the analog silence from the WAVs with EAC's WAV editor. Of course, using a specialiced tool for this task would be the most convenient, but i unfortunetly do not know any apps like that, but google is your friend in these situations

I recall using a little app called WavTrim before, so you could look for that. I used the free version; a more advanced version was available as shareware. Of course, a lot may have changed since I used the program, but at the time it sounds like it would do what you want.

thanks guys for all your replies.
wavtrim is for wav files, as is its partner mp3trim for mp3 files. there are tons of programs that can edit wav files. i use audacity. i was just hoping that i could eliminate some of my editing, if the rip program itself were to truncate the end of a song once the volume level reached a certain db-level, that i would set. perhaps in a later release.

Let's just hope that we get another release of EAC, and worry about the specific features later!
