Fantastic news! I cant say enough good things about this ripper. Now I REALLY want to see the other apps updated and integrated into a music library tool! Keep up the great work spoon. I now have a new default ripper!!!

I too can see this being my default ripper eventually... and it's something which can be recommended to others too short of time to get involved with setting up EAC.

This may be the time for two quick queries which put me off (I haven't used it for a while so these things may have been sorted now anyway).

(1) When I played with the earlier version all my ripped MP3s ended up in a folder in alphabetical order, not track order. As EAC works fine for me - and I'm short of time too - I didn't get involved in finding the solution to this.

(2) Also, I find it easy to switch Lame versions with EAC - as the new alpha is so good I want to use this, not the version Spoon's undoubtedly excellent prog is bundled with.

Try this string in the naming box:
CODE
[IFCOMP][IFVALUE]Various Artists[]Various Artists\[album][IFMULTI] (Disc [disc])[]\[album][IFMULTI] (Disc [disc])[] - [track] - [artist] - [title][][IF!COMP][IFVALUE]album artist,[album artist],[artist][]\[album][IFMULTI] (Disc [disc])[]\[artist] - [album][IFMULTI] (Disc [disc])[] - [track] - [title][]

If you are using logs, then add this:
CODE
[rippedtopath][IFCOMP][album][IFMULTI] (Disc [disc])[].txt[][IF!COMP][artist] - [album][IFMULTI] (Disc [disc])[].txt[]

You can use the comand line encoder with dBp to use any available LAME builds.
Teknojnky
use [rippedtopath] along with your preferred filename mask to keep logs in the ripped folder.

How good is the the MP3 Encoder by Fraunhofer include with the dbPoweramp Reference version? Is it a recent, licensed full version encoder? How good is the quality - have thy fixed previous encoder bugs?

I like it that dBpoweramp offers both LAME and Fraunhofer encoders in the Reference version...

Also does this new version support adding an Album Art graphic via the new album art tags included in the FLAC 1.1.3 codec?
Clemech
Cheers, Eli. I'll follow your advice. Thanks again!
gotsila
Great work! But what happened to AAC Nero Digital codec ???? sad.gif
spoon
The Fraunhofer is licensed and is their latest encoder code.

m4a encoder / decoder will appear in beta next week.
rudefyet
Congrats!

I'll definitely be purchasing the reference version in the next couple weeks.

Just a couple of queries after a quick try

The last version had options for delete source track and copy tags from source which seem to have been removed or am I missing something?

I see the tags are copied by default except on the one album I tried the replay gain tags were not.

Did pressure from Apple force you to discontinue the AAC/itunes encoder? I miss the ability to use dbpoweramp to make m4a files using the itunes engine. And, congrats! I have been using your product for a long time!

Can someone who has successfully configured the r12 command line encoder with LAME.exe share how it's done?

I posted in the dBpoweramp support forum but did not receive a responsive reply.

>Apple force you to discontinue the AAC/itunes encoder

No, will be out next week.

---

Delete source is now a DSP effect, as will be the ID Tag removal / alteration, this is currently underdevelopment, so a few weeks.
mostafa
Congratulations i cannot wait for nero aac encoder
madxcream
I'll definately be buying this when ripping to Cue sheet and Single file is implemented. This is definately a work of art.
archagon
What are the recommended CD Ripper settings?
evereux
archagon, It's recommended to configure the secure mode options (C2 detection if your version supports it) and probably leave the rest as default.

spoon, Is it / could it be planned to have the option to convert all to uppercase all first characters?

It should appear as a DSP effect.

Great!

I remember there have been long threads about the new ripper and various drives. What is the recommend drive working best with that ripper? Overread depending on offset and HTOA would be nice.

Thanks.
evereux
Find a drive that's good at DAE. Ergo it will then be good with dBpoweramp. But, as you've said, there have been many threads on this subject recently.
funkyblue
I wish there was a full-version 30day trial version of D12 with the CD Ripper.
That way I could test the final version, and compare it to EAC properly.
Cheers
spoon
I would recommend a drive with good c2 support, R12 Reference can work wonders on these drives.

----

There is a 21 day trial of Reference, or 30 day of Power Pack, if these trials were activated whilst in final beta they will not be available.
funkyblue
How does one access the Trial after I have installed to checkout Secure Ripping?
Cheers
spoon
Install the Reference Trial, it auto starts the trial.
halb27
As I switched back from wonderful wavPack lossy to good old mp3 due to battery problems I had to rerip some CDs today. I did it with dBpoweramp and I absolutely like it.

Great work!
archagon
Can it generate CUE sheets, and if not -- will it ever?
spoon
CUE sheets has slipped to R13.
evereux
What is the meaning of "Secure (Warning)"?

I've ripped a track twice and the results aren't consistent. Should this really be considered secure?
spoon
If you show the CRC column it will highlight in red to show different CRCs.

The ripping result is just for that one rip, not previous ones, the drive did not detect the error (despite rereading).
evereux
I see, makes sense since C2 wasn't enabled. If I enable C2 I don't get an output file (log reports many dropped C2 errors). (LITE-ON LH-18A1P)

I'll try upping the maximum re-reads ...
greynol
If you aren't using C2, be very careful when upping the number of re-reads as the passing criteria is 10 out of X. It's actually quite easy to get the program to say bad data is secure when using a large number for X.
evereux
Yeah, I was upping the number of rereads for C2 extraction only. But thanks for the information.

I wanted to see if I could get dBpoweramp to output an audio file with C2 on and a large number of re-reads. It was a no go.

I actually had some luck with a rip like this not too long ago. The good parts had to be pieced together with a wave editor, however. AccurateRip was able to verify my results.

I had to set the re-reads to 1500 or 2000 to get this result. In some instances all but 1 re-read was dropped by C2.

The process would probably have been curtailed if the pass criteria was adjustable.

sad.gif I haven't even gotten the chance to play with r12 yet... I'll get to it someday I suppose. I doubt I'll switch from r11.5 though.. since I have like 40000000 encoders setup on it.

number is a slight overestimate

Could you please name a few new drives that have good c2 support, so I could go and fetch one.

(I was thinking about Lite-on's latest 20* dvd-burner)

Or if you could point me to threads here in HA or somewhere else.

Greatly appreciated,

Juha

I think the safe c2 option is a plextor.

I miss the ease of adding custom command line arguments to the LAME encoder from v 11.5, especially in batch convert mode.

Could you please bring this option back?
spoon
CLI encoder is quite easy to use.

Can i tag existing files with AMG info?

CLI encoder is quite easy to use.

Not as easy as pasting my LAME string into a window and using your otherwise fine GUI, as I did with v11.5. I respect your work Spoon, but I don't want to learn the intricacies of yet another CLI. I want to point, click and know that my options are there.

Yes. Well aware of that post, thank you. Not my point.

I have never used dBpoweramp before...
Is this release considered stable/reliable ?
Or would it be wise to wait on any improvements/bug fixes ?
Eli
very stable and reliable.
