I installed foo_looks (as in, extracted the plugin to the components directory) but for some reason it will not work.

I keep getting this error message when foobar2000 starts up:

Failed to load DLL: foo_looks.dll
Reason: This component is missing a required dependency, or was made for different version of foobar2000.

I've tried to re-install it many times but it just won't work. Help?

I'd guess you are using foobar of version 9x and trying to use foo_looks which's been compiled with sdk 8x.
In order to run foo_looks you need the updated component (compiled w/ 9x sdk), which sadly has not been updated since '04 (http://www.hydrogenaudio.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=19310&hl). A different component is foo_ui_gfx http://www.hydrogenaudio.org/forums/index....ui_gfx&st=0, but development also seems to have stopped.

You might want to use foobar 8x if you want to use foo_looks.

So how would I go about using skins/themes with foobar 9x?

I just got foobar a day or two ago so I'm kind of a noob still.

foo_looks is for foobar v0.8.x

If you are running foobar v0.9.x and you want this sort of skinning you should try foo_ui_gfx (see above linked thread).

foo_looks is not available for foobar v0.9.x

For one you could rummage in http://www.hydrogenaudio.org/forums/index....=49783&st=0 to find a configuration which suits your taste (I assume you prefer to have a nice look rather quick). Everthing you need to know if you plan to use a existing configuration is there.

foo_ui_gfx is a separate interface and if I remember correctly the same thing was true with foo_looks.

There is no way to "skin" columns_ui.

If you would like some quick and easy ways to reconfigure the look and feel of Foobar using ColumnsUI I would suggest paying a visit to the Configuration Distribution Thread as mentioned earlier. Single Columns Playlist and Track Info Mod give you a lot of flexibility with the interface.
