How can CDDB have the correct info for my LP to CD transfer???

This is the strangest thing and I have no explanation: I transferred an LP with the Swedish artist Alf Hambe, the title of the LP is Vraga. This LP from 1968 has never been released on CD.

I recorded it on my Mac and cut the middle part where I turned the LP from side A to B, then created fade in and out and set indexes for the 12 tracks. Saved as 12 WAV files and burned a CD using Toast.

When I insert this CD into my Mac - iTunes lists the 12 correct track names, artist, album title and genre "folk". I never entered this and never typed the track names ANYWHERE!!!

I thought that if someone else also has done a transfer of the same LP then the track lengths etc would not be the same! That would be too much of a coincidence. After all, I could have put any track index at plus/minus several seconds and the duration of the transition from side A to B on the LP was edited down by me.

Wow. A glitch in the matrix? How is this possible?????

They are watching you. Any privacy you think you have is an illusion. Sometimes they just like to play with your head. Sometime it may get worse.

Wow, that's crazy. I think I may have had a simiar experience with a CD burned by a friend from an old latin pop group called Los Mitos. I am not sure, but I think his was an old LP converted to CD as well. I think that there is something maybe built into these databases taht takes samples of the audio from the first track or something and matches it exactly with the song in the database?? huh.gif But that's jsut my personal theory, and I have no true idea.

Quite strange... after all the modifications you've done...

That's like super spooky. However, Wikipedia mentions a "digital file identification service", which might be what's happening here.

CDDB aka Gracenote uses their feature called TrackID. I have the feature on my phone too (SE W850i), you can record 5 sec music, and it will display artist/track and album name. Maybe this is what you are discovering biggrin.gif

Thanks for the feedback guys. That must be the explanation, and someone else must have transferred this LP earlier. I can't find any other explanation.
