I've been trying to get a column to display with just the content of the "ALBUM ARTIST" tag
I created a new column, and in the display area i put %album artist%
Looking at the file properties, the ALBUM ARTIST is empty, and yet the artist is still showing in the playlist.
How come? I know it's something very simple, but i can't figure it out

You have just discovered a feature called field remappings.

To bypass it, use $meta(album artist).
