So, I tried to use Max to convert my FLAC files to Apple Lossless and I am having trouble playing the files on my mac (sorry if this sounds like I am in the wrong forum. I think I am going to the right place, but first let me explain). I want to play the music on my mac-mini plugged into my home theater, using Front Row (I'm new to Mac's, but from what I understand, everything on the mac is really just a skin for some QuickTime component). Since Apple doesn't support FLAC, if I want to use Front-Row, then I have to switch to something they do support, and I want to stay lossless... Anyway, when I'm playing the music in Front-Row, I get the message saying I don't have rights to play the song. But, if I just go to ITunes, I can play the song, and then Front Row will play the song. Confusing... But, if I just use ITunes to import a song using the Lossless encoder, then I have no problems. So, I'm starting to think that maybe Max does something not quite right with the file as it is encoding the FLAC file as apple lossless. I know, I should post this on the Max board, and as soon as I get permission from the moderator of that forum, I will. But in the meantime, I'm wondering if there is a way to use foobar to do this, instead of Max. I could just re-rip all 500 CD's in my collection using ITunes, but I'm not really looking forward to that if I can avoid it.
Sorry for the long post, but a lot of these posts get replies like "Why do you want to switch to Apple Lossless?" or something else just trying to convince the original poster to try something else. I'm open to something else, but Apple and Front Row need to be my first option (if for no other reason than it is one of the few UI's that my girlfriend is willing to put up with. If she can just point that little remots at the mini and search for music, she will do that. Otherwise I may get stuck having to just plug her IPod into my stereo. Don't ask...). So, can I use foobar to try to convert my flac library to apple lossless? I have searched and not found anything that looks like an answer. Sorry if this is an old topic. And I promise to try to take this to the Max forum as soon as they will let me...
Thanks in advance,
Chris
