Hello all and thankyou for reading, hope i have posted this in the correct area as i am new......

OK down to the question, I have recently installed EAC and what a great program it is, although my problem is this, I want to backup my intire CD collection ( around 800 cd's ) and when i try to copy in secure mode it takes forever i mean over 30 mins per cd!!!!. I have copied already about 50 in the burst mode function which i know does not correct any errors but i can copy a cd in 10 mins or so with this. I must just point out as well that 90% of my CD's are in perfect condition, ie no scratches. SO, do you think if i continue with this rather large project i would be ok???. I have listened to my copies and so far all is perfect no problems, i copy my CD's at 320 with Lame as storage is not an issue these days. Oh and i have in the last two weeks or so read a lot on EAC and how to configue it and such but i really cant wait over 30 mins per cd to copy all i have....I would like if possible some thoughts on this as i want to make the right choise before continuing....Thanks and hope for some replies.

Hi Bob,

One suggestion I'd offer is to download and install the AccurateRip plugin for EAC (http://www.accuraterip.com/). Once you've configured EAC with the correct offset for your drive, AccurateRip will check the CRC of your ripped tracks against those in the AccurateRip database to see if you got a good rip. Provided that the disc is in the database, you can rip away in Burst Mode and have a means of checking that your rip is error-free.

You can also choose to rip test & copy in Burst Mode (although this will double the ripping time), and if the test CRC matches the copy CRC, you can be reasonably confident that your rip was good.

Lastly, if HD space isn't an issue, why not go with a lossless codec like flac or WavPack instead of 320kbps mp3?

Cheers,
RS

Check out the thread in my signature. Its for FLAC files but just change to MP3.

Also, you may want to consider dbpoweramp R12 reference as an easier and faster alternative to EAC.

Hi RS,

I have indeed already downloaded accurate rip and set the correct offset settings, i changed these after in EAC but must say i dont really know if this has made a difference. As far as backup space goes 320 mp3 is ok with me, FLAC will use just maybe to much ...mm i may look into this to ..Thanks very much for your reply..Bobs
