CODE
'('%artist% - %title%')' '('%playback_time%[ / %length%]')'
this is the code i currently have for my notification area...but the playbacktime always stays as a question mark --is it possible for it to display the actaul time as it does in the status bar?
thanks

No I don't think the playbacktime in the notification area tooltip updates per second...

well, when i scroll over something (foobar unrelated) like my router it tells me my signal strength -- even if the strenght changes it doesnt change with it, it just tells me what it is when i scroll over...is there a way to do this with the time?
it tells me the current time on scroll out of the whole...it doesnt need to update. is this possible?
edit: i'm not sure if all my efforts are futile or not...i've tried things like:
$put(%playback_time%,%tomtomtom%) or
$puts(%playback_time%,%tomtomtom%)...ect ect...%tomtomtom%
so apparently it's not grabbing the playback_time at all.....
Sorry to bump this, but I was looking for a way to control how long the tooltip stays visible but couldn't find anywhere. I've seen options to control this behaviour in other programs (miranda for instance) but can't find it in foobar. Is there a way to tell it that I don't need a tooltip for more than a second(right now is ~10 seconds)?
Also, is it possible to tell foobar to show the tooltip only when it's minimized to tray (or taskbar, but just tray is preferable)?
you can't do that with tooltip, but you can do it (and much more) with foo_prettypop.dll (which you may find at any components site)

I recommend
foo_popupplus. That's not depending on .NET 2.0 like foo_prettypop is.
Thank you both. I decided to stick with foo_popupplus
