I can't figure out how to set EAC to rip audio into CBR files. I have the bitrate set to 256kps..but it keeps ripping in VBR. How is this fixed? Thanks
My command line options, if they matter: -V 2 --vbr-new --add-id3v2 --pad-id3v2 --ignore-tag-errors --ta "%a" --tt "%t" --tl "%g" --ty "%y" --tn "%n" --tg "%m" %s %d

Use -b <bitrate> instead of -V 2 --vbr-new.
BTW, why rip in CBR?

Because I was told that iPods have trouble playing VBR mp3s. Is this not true?
Thanks!

Hmm that CBR code doesn't seem to work. All it's ripping at now is 128kps.
Is this how it should look?
-b <256>--add-id3v2 --pad-id3v2 --ignore-tag-errors --ta "%a" --tt "%t" --tl "%g" --ty "%y" --tn "%n" --tg "%m" %s %d
Also, just wondering...if I were to keep using VBR, how do I set the max bitrate? Setting it in the "LAME DLL" tab seems to have no effect.

Remove those brackets from the bitrate.
-b 256 --add-id3v2 --pad-id3v2 --ignore-tag-errors --ta "%a" --tt "%t" --tl "%g" --ty "%y" --tn "%n" --tg "%m" %s %d
And, I don't think modern ipods have a problem with VBR. To set a max bitrate in VBR, use -B

Thanks a lot.
Will I notice a quality difference between 256CBR and the -V 2 --vbr?

Doubtfull, but you most likely will be wasting a lot of space.
That bitrate problem only really applied to Minis, from what I've read here, and it wasn't even that common.
