Full Version: how do I make foobar2k remember last playing?

relight
Is there an option to make Fb2k automatically hightlight the last song I was playing before it was shut down last time?

It bugs be because I have a lot of songs, and I always play certain songs (songs which I love) over and over, but everytime I start fb2k it doesn't seem to remember the last song I was playing, the playlist resets itself, so I have to go through the entire list to find the song I want ....which is just annoying. huh.gif

file -> preferences -> playback -> resume playback after restart
buktore

It works! Thanks so much. laugh.gif

EDIT: well actually, it doesn't really work...

it only works when I close foobar while playing a song, is there anyway to make it so it doesnt reset the playlist in the beginning?
shakey_snake
sure. Don't press Stop before you close Foobar.

[edit] for the record, foobar has never "reset my playlist"

Are you running vista, btw?
Do you have user profiles enabled?

I'm running WinXP, with user profile enabled.

Maybe I'm not expressive enough... say I highlighted song number 502 before I close foobar, then when I open foobar again the playlist view is the same as before BUT then suddenly wrap to the top of the list...

I have Columns UI enabled, here are the list of components Ive installed:

selections get lost during shutdown. Sorry.

This doesn't happen to me. Whenever I open Foobar, it's exactly where it last was in whatever playlist I was using.

It was never broken. If I play, stop, restart foobar and resume playback, it starts from its last position. Whether its highlighted or not depends on the ColumnsUI config. Mine is highlighted.
I'm using a very minimist setup.

I'm also using ColumnsUI. Would you be kind enough to tell me where the option is? I couldn't find it anywhere in preferences.
shakey_snake
Relight, with all do respect to TREX, I don't think he has read what you specifically want (since the thread title is misleading), and is probably making a false claim.
tool++
I have just tested this.

If you select a song, play it for a bit, stop it, then shutdown foobar.

Then you reopen foobar, you hit play (without clicking a track) it will play the one that you were on before.

If you are using browser panels it generally breaks this though as it it recreates the playlist.

Seems pritty clear to me...

I have playback follows cursor and cursor follows playback enabled.

If I click on a track (any track in my playlist) and restart, the track is still highlighted. Hell it even scrolls to the area where its highlighted.
Pressing play will play from the highlighted track

My foobar starts from song No.1 everytime I start it...

I have both "playback follows cursor" and "cursor follows playback" enabled.

I use Columns Playlist to pick my songs, here is my ColumnsUI settings:

P.S. I've just removed the foo_albumlist component, but the result is the same. huh.gif

Could you repost your component list using the copy button at the upper right corner in Preferences -> Components. Your list got cut off in the picture. Here my component list and it works fine as TREX said.

BTW on both Vista and XP, foobar behaves the same for me.
For now the likely plugin I think to be the culprit is foo_highlightplaying try disable it. Also SCPL is also one of the components causing this problem (at least at the time I tried it now I don't use it anymore).

No, not fixed. I just tested it, and even when closing and opening Foobar, the cursor stays where it last was, for ALL playlists. So I open Foobar, and it opens with the last playlist I was using displayed, with the cursor exactly where I left it(whether it be from stopping the playback there or selecting something). Then I go to a playlist I used yesterday, and the cursor is exactly where I left it, or at the last song played.

Yes it's foo_highlightplaying! I just removed the component and restarted foobar, the cursor is were it was. biggrin.gif

Thanks a lot guys, I never knew foo_highlightplaying would cause such problem. smile.gif

You could inform the developer of that plugin to fix the bug.
Saying that, I assume it is a bug...

Good to see you got it sorted.
