in most of the players there are simply possibility to change the volume: open the window and by a mouse wheel change a volume up / down

in foobar you have shortucs on the keybord or "open the window - CLICK in the right, down corner - AND THEN change the volume by a mouse wheel"

i now it is "just" one click more but for me its too much, one songs are louder other not, i change often a volume, and always doing two clicks are damn tireing

any possibility to aplicate the first option in foobar? "open the window - by a mouse wheel up or down the volume"??

Have you tried mapping your mousewheel to a keyboard shortcut for volume up/down?

You should be able to link pretty much any keyboard shortcut to volume up and/or down, I know that most some logitech mice allow you to remap the scrollwheel functions to keyboard functions as well. You can also create a custom button anywhere on the foobar interface for adjusting volume. You can also add the volume toolbar under ColumnsUI/PanelsUI. There are many ways to change the volume in foobar.

I personally am continually annoyed by programs that link volume to the scrollwheel as I set all my software to a comfortable level and adjust the master volume on my external amplifier. IMO the scroll wheel should be for scrolling window content and any function other than that should only be due to explicit user intervention. Nothing like thinking your gonna scroll up/down on a webpage only to realize you have your mp3 player focused instead and you gotta spend another [insert length of time] to rebalance your volume.

To each his own, I'm all for more customization but please do not make this a standard "feature" of foobar.

*Edit: The setpoint software for my MX1000 allows me to remap my scrollwheel.

it's available but not for mouse wheel. i have logitech mx510 where i have 8 buttons, 3 are the basis, next 5 are set as "CTRL + ," and "CTRL + ;" which are later set in foobar keyboard shortcut as global hotkeys. I coudn't set mouse wheel up/down to any key in official logitech software, only can use mouse3 which is wheel button

You can if you use AutoHotkey.

Search around the forums; I've once posted an AutoHotkey script which enables the wheel button to control foobar's volume.

Why you aren't using ReplayGain or MP3Gain?
