Hi, everybody

Usually I use free Nero AAC encoder for my encodes. But not a long time ago I bought Nero 7 Premium which contains build-in AAC codec.

So, I wonder which of two encoders produces higher quality results?

Thanks in advance,
Irakli

the free one should be better. i believe that the one in Nero 7 Premium is just an older version of the encoder. I could be wrong though...

Usually the free command line encoder gets updated first - but Nero Premium package gets the updated AAC encoder build on its regular product update.

Both products (command line encoder and Nero 7) are sharing the same AAC encoder code-base - it is just a matter of timing when it comes to update release.

Thanks for reply

I have one more question. I can use different modes (CBR, ABR, VBR) in command line encoder. But in Nero 7 Premium I have only slider to choose different bitrates. So, which mode is used in Nero 7 Premium? CBR, ABR or VBR?

Thanks,
Irakli

VBR is used in Nero 7 premium. I am not sure if you can edit its CD ripper/audio conversion software to reflect the same scale as in the free converter.

Thanks

I will probably continue using command line encoder

I been reading the forums for a while and it doesn't matter what people say, who ever asks the questions always end up doing what they had in mind. in conclusion everyones ears are different from everyones so if you think the free one is better than the purchased one, i think that falls in each individuals opinion. For me i will choose nero aac over lame anytime is more alived, i could almost say it sounds exactly like the cd. at q 0.6 best setting for ipod and computer use. Imade lost of test and aac sounds way better in my kenwood car stereo with 2 12"kicker and infinity mids and highs.im a into total good sounding music. MP3 Bye Bye and AAC is the new format and vorbis second option bt is not very compatible yet.
