Hi, all. I'm trying to watch a DVD on my computer, but for some reason the 2-channel AC3 stream always sounds considerably softer than the full 5.1 mix. I don't want ot send a surround sound stream to stereo speakers, so what do I have to do to make sure that the AC3 is being decoded correctly? I'm using Media Player Classic with the external AC3 filter from free-codecs.

I should think the stereo is playing back at the correct level but the surround is being boosted when it is downmixed. So just turn up your amp to get the stereo louder, or use dynamic range compression.
