Full Version: Why MPEG1 and MPEG2 Layer3 have different Frame Length?

What I heard is that the difference between MPEG1 and MPEG2 Layer3 is MPEG2 support lower sampling rate and multi-channel audio.

But why is the frame length of MPEG2 layer3 half shorter than that of MPEG1 layer3?

Is there specific reason for this?

Probably to keep the number of synchronization points (headers) per second equal.
