Since ~October of last year, I've been running Xubuntu on an old laptop of mine. I'm just wondering if there is any software for Linux that provides metadata lookup from the AMG database (my preferred source). I know this is unlikely due to the fact that AMG's service isn't free, but I'm just checking to make sure.

I searched myself but never found one.

Instead I ended up running mp3tag with wine, works flawlessly.

Disappointing. I'm interested in more or less equalizing the capabilities of my Xubuntu and XP Pro machines, but I guess this issue will continue to be a Linux weak point for a while to come. Since I'm a metadata and tagging nomenclature Nazi, that means Windows will continue to be my primary OS for the foreseeable future.

AMG lookup (their service is called "Lasso") is available on the PS3 and the new versions of RealPlayer and Rhapsody. AMG's LASSO service is available for Linux, but is not free and software developers need to license it to implement. Lasso data is AMG's however, so it would be perfect for tagging nomenclature Nazi's like you :)
