I've searched those forums and only found people with the same question but no answer.

I need a USB soundcard for my laptop, with :

- SPDIF output AND input
- bit-perfect playback and passthru (so, no resampling everything at 48k)
- and the ability to slave to an incoming SPDIF signal

What I mean is, when I plug a SPDIF source in the input, I want the computer and soundcard to be in synch with the incoming clock, so that the SPDIF output is in synch with the incoming signal, and there are no sample skips.

There are a lot of USB soundcards based on PCM2702 ; does anyone know if this chip supports this function ? The datasheet does not mention anything.
