Hi all,
Why are flac files encoded with foobar2000 a bit larger than the same files encoded manually with flac.exe? I did some experiments converting a few files, and the size difference was up to about 90 kB in the compressed files. I used the external encoder option in foobar2000, and the files were encoded with the same quality setting (5) and the same version of the encoder (1.1.4).
FLAC creates a huge seek table for piped input.
It is probably due to tags, or some sort of padding.

Thanks for the swift answers. Pest was right about the reason for the file size difference (piped input and seek tables). I re-encoded the songs in fb2k using the temporary input file switch instead of piping, and the file size matched exactly the one I get when encoding manually with flac.exe.
