I'm looking for a CD ripper which can :
-Rip without having the administrator rights
-Be fully portable : nothing added in the registry
Optional : Support Vorbis and WavPack

I already tried CDex and Foobar2000 but they don't work without administrator rights.

Any ideas ?

I know that EAC works without being an administrator. Just install it as a
user to a place where you have write permissions. Accessing the CD drives
with SCSI commands is a problem (at least with ATAPI drives, don't know
about the newer ones). You can use Nero BurnRights to change the drive's
permissions in order for users being able to do just that, though this
is not a very portable solution, because you have to chat with the administrator
and ask nicely ... I haven't checked if EAC stores it's configuration in a file or in
the registry, neither.

If you were using linux the whole thing would probably be easier to solve.

EAC needs admin rights, it doesn't detect the CD.
I'm looking for a fully portable solution, so I'm afraid Nero BurnRights can not help me.
I just want to be able to rip a CD everywhere by plugging my portable drive, even with a computer without administrator rights.
I know Windows Media Player and iTunes can rip without administrator rights, but they are not portable at all.

EAC also writes settings into the registry, and since it isn't open source there's no way around that as in changing it.

Although I haven't seen any portable CD ripping software, perhaps you could request one on PortableApps.com, that is if they do requests. About the only other thing I can think of is to spend a good amount of time churning through SourceForge.net for something that may meet your needs, other than that perhaps look into portable CD/DVD burning software that can also unsecurely rip audio CDs.

I will try to install it on my portable drive with my personal computer, and test it on another computer without admin rights.

i run EAC from a thumb drive and can speak with absolute certainty that i got no admin rights.

Well, RipStation seems not to be not portable, and not to work without administrator rights.
After those annoying registrations, it finally gives me this error : "Unable to enable Autorun". I guess it tries to write in the registry to make the soft start at every boot, but can not without admin rights.
I also saw by looking in some of the files in the RipStation directory some"CurrentUser...", so it does use the registry.

I know very well those websites, but on PortableApps.com, they recommend to use CDex, which doesn't work without admin rights.

I also have Xp Pro and EAC does NOT work (don't detect the cd drive or show an ASPI error).

"Player" from the VUPLAYER site rips without Admin Rights, but I have not been able to get the Gracenote dll to load on my computer. Give it a try and see if Gracenote will work for you.

on this box, EAC detects & runs both the internal CD drive and the Sony USB DVD/CD drive.

what about Foobar & MediaMonkey? i run Foobar on the same thumb and it will rip a CD. i've not tried to rip using MM but it does tag et al.

FWIW, i run Foobar, EAC, MediaMonkey, MP3Tag, OmniEncode & MP3Gain on the thumb drive.
