The first time it takes long time, but if you scan again then it's very fast, in 0.9.4.2.
Exactly. The same for me in 0.9.4.3. There has been a massive speed improvement a couple of versions ago, it's all fine since then...

On my old P3/500 384M machine with 6600 media library tracks:

1st rescan (last rescan is a couple of changes and days ago): 55 seconds.
2nd, 3rd, 5th..., after fb2k restarts: 44s

A good value, before the last media library rescan speed increase sometimes it took a couple of minutes here.

EDIT: But for whatever reason, my notebook does massively vary with the same media library: 58 seconds for the first, then 8 seconds for 2nd, 3rd ... rescan. Its a p3/800 384M ram. Both computers share the same OS (w2K) and have a minimal setup (e.g. no on-access-virusscanners and other crap).

It would be interesting to know, what it the scanning does depend on.

Tried a fresh "install" (unzip from 7-Zip, since the installer once deleted everything in the fb2k folder I'm not using it) of 0.9.4.3 Beta and 0.9.4.2 Final. Only used the essential to get it running.

foobar2000.exe
foo_input_std.dll
foo_ui_std.dll
shared.dll

The funny thing was that 0.9.4.2 took as long as the beta did, even with only those files.
I Tried several times, scanning took about at least 30 secs.

Switched over to 0.9.4.3, same thing.
Back to 0.9.4.2, then after some more switching and rescanning it just started to work.
Fired up my regular 0.9.4.3 Beta, with all components and everything, first scan took about 10 seconds, the one after only 3 seconds.

I have no idea how it works, but it does. Thanks.
