Last night, I helped a friend of mine set up EAC for his two drives, using this method:
First we used a recognized reference CD to detect the proper read offset correction value.
Then we set Write samples offset to 0 and let EAC create an offset test CD, then
used that test CD to (re)detect read sample offset correction. We did this for both drives,
sacrificing 2 CDRs (one for each drive).
In both cases, the (combined read/write) offset correction value of 0 was returned! We felt
this was just too cooincidental to be correct, but didn't know what else to do, so we
accepted that value, and calculated the write offset correction value by subtracting the
known read offset correction value from this read/write offset correction value, according to
the instructions in the Coaster Factory tutorial.

Can anyone tell me if I went wrong, and if so, where?

One of his drives is a Plextor 760a, and I can't remember the make/model of his other drive,
but I don't think this information is germane to my question.

Edit: I notice that for the writer, EAC wants the "write samples offset", not the "write offset
correction value"....but when setting up the reading drive, EAC wants the "offset correction value".
