Full Version: Appending WAVs in EAC - is it a perfect join?

Hello - another question that I think I already know the answer to, but can't find confirmation:

If I rip two adjacent WAVs (say track 1 and 2 on a CD) and get good AccurateRip-confirmed results for both, and I later append one WAV to the other using EAC, then is it a perfect join, the same as if I had ripped the two tracks as a range from the CD?

I figure that if I've got good WAVs then I do whatever I like with them later, but I notice other people are using other software to join WAVs, so is EAC good enough?

Yes, EAC will do as good a job as Shntool or whatever other program people are using to append files. It's mostly just a matter of taste or what features you like.

And if EAC is set to append gaps at the end of tracks (default setting) when ripping, it will almost be the same as if you had ripped it as a range. The difference is that you won't get the pre-gap (just silence anyway). The gaps between tracks will be the same however.

A belated thanks for the reply.

By pre-gap, you mean the gap BEFORE track 1, right? I think I can live without that!
