Hello, im not sure if this is the right forum for me. But since my audio driver setup is named "Hydrogen HD audio" i thought i give it a try.

i have a soundcard with c-media 8788 soundchip and DD as well as DTS:Neo

Last week i reinstalled windows XP on a new hard disk. i also installed the sound card and its newst drivers (of course) as well as directX 9c but all games say that i have no soundcard or the soundcrad does not support openAL.

all games lag as hell, the sound is in a loop....

DVD´s and music are no problem and work very well with my 5.1 surround system (through optical spdif)

i tryed everything and even installed openAL.dll´s but still no improvement.

I need help crying.gif

did you changed any setting in the BIOS Setup before reinstalling windows XP, like ACPI support or pnp related, something similar happened to me with a C-media soundcard when I changed my mainboard

Sorry I can't help you, but this is the coolest reason for coming here I've seen for a long time.

some changes in the BIOS configuration settings will not take effect if windows is not reinstalled again

I could fix the problem by myself! By error i deactivated directsound and activated it again, now everything works. My soundcard now encodes everything to DTS even game-sound smile.gif

I was about to ask...who screwed up the wonderful C-Media chipset with the rest of their board?

After all C-Media is one of the better chips out there for audio.
