here is the deal, first off i have no knowlegde of the WMA format, nor do i have a single WMA file in my entire music collection.

This is what i am looking to do:
I am looking for a simple program to convert *.mp3 and *.mpc files into the *.wma format.
The output *.wma files i am looking to produce are mosty just (128kbps Samplerate:44100Hz, Channel:Stereo)

The reason for this transcoding maddness is that i what to make custom xbox soundtracks using my pc audio collection and then transfer them onto my xbox via ftp.

thanks

Oh man this is so bad...all i can say is the quality will be very, very bad (definately with the converted mp3's more than with MPC), so embrace yourself...oh, oh i'm hurting...ok that's enough smile.gif..

So I gather the XBOX only handles WMA? GREAT Micro$oft.

Yes it also handles MP3 IIRC so why the WMA? Actually there is software for it now IIRC that handles MPC. I mean after all the Xbox is not so much a console as it is the Apple of PC computers. Well I say apple as in specific computer hardware requirements, but not software stability and features. wink.gif

i know that there is software that supports .mp3, .ogg, etc etc... for the xbox.

But i want to be able to create "xbox soundtracks" via PC to xbox by means of FTP; without having to load a music CD into my xbox, then rip it and naming all the tracks using the controller. Its time consuming and a pita.

So when running a game there is usually an option in the game to change the "soundtrack" of the game to what ever music you would like. Its not like a browser window opens up and your able to pick what ever type media files you wish to play. It just lists the soundtracks/groups of music that you have ripped from music CDs. When ripping audio CD xbox automatically makes *.wma files, and groups them into soundtrack that the user specifiys.

Now that i found http://www.dbpoweramp.com/ , thanks Q!
I can simply pick what i like from my music collection on my PC then convert them using dBpowerAMP Music Converter into *.wma files then use a xbox Soundtrack Editor program that will edit the proper files on my xbox enabling me to just ftp them over. Now i can create custom "in game" soundtracks without having to rip CDs, ill just transfer them over ;-)

Hehehehehe. Funny thing just occured to me. Games like Hitman2 use Vorbis audio for sound. So does that mean that Hitman2 for Xbox(The WMA evangelist console) still uses Vorbis? OMFG Billy will not be pleased! hehehehe
