Full Version: I need to purge plugins settings

I got a really weird problem with one plugin.

All of a sudden during startup fb2k asked me whether I wanted to keep the settings of a plugin, because it wasn't installed anymore. But it was still in the components folder!

Of course, I wanted to keep the settings because I didn't remove it.

Then I got this error message:
QUOTE
Failed to load DLL: foo_input_mslive.dll
Reason: This application has failed to start because the application configuration is incorrect. Reinstalling the application may fix this problem.

So, how should I know that the reason a plugins fails to be recognised is because of "incorrect configuration" when the enlightening error log is shown after the important question whether to keep the (corrupt) settings? Even worse this warning won't go away anymore without deleting the whole settings, because this plugin has no setup page! So I can't reset the configuration for the non-existing setup page. I don't want to configure fb2k from scratch now, only because I kept the settings for mslive by mistake.

Is there a way to keep the good settings and purge the incorrect one? unsure.gif

for that a backup is very helpful =)

mhh, look in the foobar2000.cfg and try to find something, but work with backup!

It's protected with a CRC. So even if I would manage to delete the plugin's settings with a hex editor, fb2k will purge the whole file. sad.gif

I my first idea is that you dont have a dependance of this plugin. I had this problem with wmvis while switching conputer. I dont remember the dll but all plugins from acropolis need a dll. Verify you still have it

The problem is not caused by corrupted settings stored in foobar2000.cfg, but by an incorrectly installed runtime library. Have you placed any msvc*.dll in your foobar2000 directory?

@carmenm: I got libmmd.dll.

That's the weird thing, I used to work fine, but today fb2k just asked me about the settings as if foo_input_mslive was removed, but it wasn't. I didn't toch the components at all.

edit1: @foosion: Yeah, that's it probably! I deinstalled MS Visual Studio 2005 yesterday. Seems like one too many dll got removed along with it, I think I'll just install this runtime library package and see what happens.

edit2: Nope, I tried it with Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable Package. Doesn't work... maybe after a restart? Hm... unsure.gif

edit3: Oops, wrong redistributable. Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 SP1 Redistributable Package does the job. Thanks foosion, for the right hint!
