Case, if you read this thread you'll be able to answer my question better than anyone else, since it concerns your program. I've tried using "--nfo," and that is not the sort of output I have in mind (ideally, the tags should be read exactly as they exist within the file; capitals should be capitalized, and special characters read verbatim). All right, here is the situation...
I want to be able to create a text-file list of a collection of tagged audio files. I want that list to be specifically generated from parameters, such as the following:
(From the tag)
TITLE
TRACKNUMBER
ALBUM
ARTIST
DATE
GENRE
COMMENT
(From the audio, itself)
FORMAT
LENGTH
BITRATE
MODE (mono, joint stereo, stereo, 5.1...)
... and I want to be able to specify the structure of the final list, in terms of what parameters are included and where they are positioned within the line.
Long ago I had a very configureable, easy-to-use freeware program to do all of this for MP3. Can TAG do such a task, and if so, how? If not, does anyone know of a free, easy-to-use non-spyware application able to create this sort of list from any type of input audio (Vorbis, FLAC, MP3, MPC, APE...)?

Tag's --nfo could do anything you request with tag values, but that function doesn't get any technical info about format. So what you wish to accomplish isn't possible with Tag without modifications, and I really don't know when I have time to add this.

MPEG Audio Collection's "report" feature will do roughly that, but it doesn't allow dispay of custom tags and can't display all of the audio format information you mentioned. It comes pretty close though.

I don't know about FLAC and APE support, but Vorbis, MP3 and MPC surely are supported.
Thanks for the responses and suggestions, guys. Case, if you ever get a chance to add support for format reporting to TAG, it would be much appreciated.

Finally found the old MP3 Lister program I had used in the past: it was by
codevisions, and was fully configureable. Sniff. :'(
So if anyone ever runs across something similar for managing
other forms of audio (Vorbis, FLAC, what-have-you...), please post here to let us all know!

Edit: For anyone who needs this program, the latest working link I was able to find is for
MP3 Lister 4.1.
