I have been using/trying various programs out there to convert aac files to mp3. There are shoutcast
streaming radio stations that I listen to and programs like winamp with streamripper can save the individual files and tag them. Unfortunately they only save them in the format they are streamed in, which in this case is acc.

1. Is there a way that fubar2000 can convert these. So far all I get is an error that it is garbage.

2. Is there a way the convert the streaming files directly to mp3 from fubar2000.

Any thought would be appreciated. Any other known freeware programs that will do this would also be appresicated. I am not sure if the acc files are "protected" or not; I just like to listen on my computer and wanted to do so in my car's mp3 player.

Mplayer, which is a command line beast, can stream and write to .wav and it should be easy to convert this to your target format then. Should be like:

CODE
mplayer.exe -playlist http://example.com/stream.ext -ao pcm -vc dummy -vo null

I don't know what's wrong with your aac stream dumps. Maybe you provide more information.
