Hello,

I want to convert all my mp3 files to the best ID3 tag version for me. I only use Artist, Title, Album, Album art, Track #, Total Track #, CD #, and Total CD #. What program will do this, and will it lower the quality of an MP3?

I plan on using Windows Media Player and iTunes, but first I want to get all my mp3s in order before I start adding them to my media players, and I have a big mess with a bunch of folders and incorrectly named files.

Please help! I want to get everything uniformed and concrete before I add my files to my media players.

Go with the ID3V2.3. This will work nicely with Itunes, capture more than the data you require, and be fully compatible with virtually any player. If you use fb2k to create the tags, be sure to check "compatibility mode" in the preferences for tagging.

Moderation: Useless and over-sized image removed. Please use thumbs in future.

Where?

Thanks for advice!

If you go into:

File >> Preferences

Then click on the "Advanced" tab, it can be found there.

Here is a screenshot:

I myself would just go with foobar2000's default - will write ID3v2.4, however if you are looking for compatibilty (i.e. use iTunes or WMP instead) - then use compatibilty mode.

EDIT: Also - editing the tags will not affect the MP3 audio - will not lower quality smile.gif!! All you are doing it changing/adding to the the header information of the MP3 file.
