Ok so i'll start off by saying i've been reading various forums and formatting and re-installing stuff for the last two days with little to no success. Before i got my m-audio card i was using a cmedia cmi8738 sound card, which worked fine for general sound playback and voip. When i installed my m audio card for midi interfacing/music however, the cmedia card stoped working. I've been able to get the cmedia card operational again by removing the m-audio card and uninstalling all my sound drivers and re installing the c-media ones. This is kind of an annoying process however when switching between making music/gaming.
No matter what card i use or what input, the test function in vent doesnt pick anything up. The 'test hardware' app in the sound and audio device properties won't pick up anything either. Whenever i try and go to the input tab it tells me that theres no mixer devices installed and that i need to go to the add hardware tab and add one, however upon doing so, the system doesn't find anything.
Theres no irq conflicts, i've tried practically every configuration/conbination of drivers/devices, and m-audio tech support isn't picking up the phone at all. I'd realy like to keep this card as its realy good for midi/asio playback, but id also like to be able to talk on vent regardless of which card i have to use.

M-Audio does not install a system mixer because it has its own mixing application. Applications which expect to select a specific Recording Source will fail. So by installing your M-Audio you have deleted the CMedia driver?

It is possible that the setup.exe installer did this (never trust installers). Try installing the M-Audio drivers the normal way by selecting an INF file (you first need to unpack the exe installer).
