Is there something that would display the current line on the bottom right edge (or somewhere else) of the screen to make a karaoke (and perhaps based on PrettyPopup (http://www.maroonspoon.com/foo_prettypop/)) ?

Also, I would like to know more about embedded lyrics : I understood that it will read first tag, then directory, etc.

What happens when no local datas are found? Where are they stored? Do not tell me it's reloaded each time, I would not believe you! Is there a way to auto embed them in file? And finally, is there a way to view them before downloading to file?

i think its connected o lyricsDB since that one is also having "some network issues" for a few days.

please let me know if you also have it or if the problem is client-sided.
also please try and help me figure out how to solve this. my firewall is not blocking foobar. ive checked this and i can also still use DBtagging.
maybe both plug ins are using the same ports or something?

2. When no local datas are found(tag or association or dir), Lyrics show panel will perform a Internet search(in a new thread, only if "Internet -> Download automatically" is checked), and then prefered download .lrc files, if there's no .lrc file, choose one .txt file to download.
3. they are stored depends on your "Internet -> Save scheme" setting. default is "embed to file", but there's a problem when writing tags: It's OK when you've download 20 items (the number of lyrics in cache is set to 20), it will write the last 20 track's lyrics to there tags. However, when fb2k is shutting down, it always failed to write tags. So on a later release, I'll fix it.
If embed failes(such as the filter which matches "Setting -> skip w/r tags by filetypes", mslive:// or unpack:// protocol), Lyrics show panel will perform the action which you've set in "Internet -> if embed failes"
As of the "embed" is not stable, I recommend that use "Save lyrics to dictory", it's fast and stable.
4. Now you can't view lyrics before downloading, but I'll implement soon.

Have you configure proxy setting of Internet Explorer before?
In defaults, lyricsDB use the proxy setting from Internet Explorer, Lyrics show panel always uses IE's proxy setting.

I've had this problem off and on since installing the component.


It sounds like that server was busy or temporary down

i set my IE to "work offline" some days ago....

Oh! Another Idea : that would be cool to change the display (and not only the color and global font) of the different line : the highlighted line could be in big, while other could be in small. Would be funner with a size gradient on the line, so that it looks like this :

Which lyrics database is your version using now? Cuz I want to contribute there. Thanks.

Edit: ahh, I see in source, that it is secret. I just know, that it maybe is this: u15191554.onlinehome-server.com on port 1212.

btw. I found that other lyric displaying (and editing) plugins for other audio programs have submission feature and your doesn't have.

I would love to see a timestamp editor like Make_Lyric was for 0.8x.

I hide it just because bluenet(orig developer) hide it.

Do you think it is good lyrics site? Many links pointing to the site itself aren't working. There are no submit lyrics function. However, I have to admit that when your plugin was using previous lyrics database I wasn't able to find timestamped lyrics for some of my favourite songs. After change, 99% of my songs have timestamped lyrics. I'm just wondering how those lyrics got there, when there's no upload page.

I encounter this problems in the latest version (0.3.1.1b6).
-ClearType/AA doesn't work with my preferred font, Calibri. It's works with every other font I've tried, but not Calibri.
-The lyrics panel is scrollable with the arrow keys except when it's tabbed using foo_uie_tabs (v. 0.2.5).

I just found few timestamped lrc db before, do you have any suggestion?
Previous db is minilyrics.com, has a bigger db in CJK, and the server is located in china I think.
I just knew that minilyrics can upload lyrics to these db.
Maybe I should make a standalone program or embe the function into the panel for uploading?
EDIT: I may prefer adding some features on scripting to provide more db than write the codes staticly.

I am using the latest DEV version, but ClearType still doesn't work with the font Calibri. Trackpoint drag also doesn't work. I guess it just wasn't meant to be.

I've just tried foo_uie_tabs. Here's some screenshots (I'm using 0.3.1.1 latest DEV version, now the DEV version is replaced by 0.3.1.1 b7)

no ClearType (Calibri, with fading effect, GDI+ DrawString seems not support cleartype on Vista fonts.)

So, you first should turn down the fading effect.

I also tested the drag feature, works.
if you want to use arrow keys, you can double click the lyrics show panel(set focus)

I am still having my old problem with finding the lyrics though: If %artist% is "Police, The" or "Apple, Fiona" it will not find the lyrics.

I try to solve this by fixing the Lyric file name for artist-title1 and artist-title2, but obviously the lyrics database search is not being done with these fixed names. Can you please provide us with a way to fix our artist and title names, instead of just sending %artist% and %title% to the lyrics database?

I also organize my music this way and encounter the same problem. I add all the music by the artist in question to the playlist then select it all, right click, properties, change the name to "Fiona Apple" for example, then get the lyrics, then change it back. It's kind of a hassle, but it works.

I want to use this component to display a short comment about the artist on my track display when a track is played. I will probably just search google for a comment about each artist, and then copy it into a text document.

What text format does it use, and can I specify the directory where the document is returned from?

Either plain-text file(.txt) or lrc formatted file(.lrc) is OK
There are some hints on how to configuration:
search path(always search %foobar_path%\lyrics\):
Setting -> Lyric Search -> Search path
search name:
Settig -> Lyric file name, Click "New":
Name: artist
Value: %artist% (or something other like %artist%)

Have tried clean & backup your current conf and see if it works?

Can't I just store each comment (.txt file) in the artist directory? For example I have my music organised by artists then by albums then by track, and I want to have the comment file in the artist directory along with the album folders like so:

-album3...
--track1
--track2....

*Artist2
comment2.txt
-album1
-album2
[etc....]

So that whenever I play an album or track from within that artist folder, it will show the corresponding comment (regardless of which particular album or track, as long as it's within that artist folder).

How can I do that?

Where can I find the fading effect? Is there a checkbox I've been not seeing for over 40 minutes?

I mean that Lyric show panel always search %foobar_path%\lyrics, then search user defined path.
If you organize artist comments like that, you should add the path to the search folder(by titleformating scripts):
$replace($replace($replace(%path%,%filename_ext%,),\$directory(%path%),),$directory(%path%,2),)
Note: Lyric show panels can search more folders separated by ";"(comma), And you should add some rule to search the commets file(dont check include subdir if you are not sure, it's recursive call so costs more memory/cpu).

In Lyric Show Panels Setting, Display-> Display setting -> Enalbe Fading, just check/uncheck that.

Maybe some incompatiables with dockable panels and/or trackinfo_mod and/or single column playlist

I close the dockable panel first
And then close foobar
Cover the original lyrics panel with modified one
And then run foobar
All ok now

I like dockable panel
Maybe dockable panel must be updated too, I think.
