Columns UI is not necessary to run Lyrics Show Panel (Modified version) *IF* you use Dockable Panels.

If you do not, then you need CUI.

dypsis
I have tried using Dockable Panels to display my lyrics with the Lyric Show Panel, but it only displays the Artist, Title & Album.

I have tried adding Columns UI, but it doesn't make any difference.

Also, I cannot change font colour or background colour etc.

Have you considered checking the Lyrics Show Panel prefs > Internet > Download automatically checkbox ? You might want to check that out.

If you already have the lyrics files, have you considered filling the Search path at Lyrics Show Panel prefs > Setting ?

QUOTE(radecke @ Nov 28 2007, 18:59) *

just one little problem: i have the lyrics panel over the reflection of the album art and whenever the album art changes (for example when a new album starts) and this track has no lyrics the background doesn't update and i still see the old cover.
perhaps you could include in one of the future versions that the background is updated at the beginning of a track even if there are no lyrics for this song.

ok problem solved wink.gif

the solution is very easy: you just need to hide the panel if there are no lyrics smile.gif

@radecke
I've fixed that and something else since Alpha 3, however, I haven't released it yet, for I think it's not good to release it now.

@Chaser
Thanks for reporting.
I've reproduced that crash today, however, I can't reproduced it again >_<

It can read lyrics from tags. In the box called "read lyric from TAG:" just put in your tag name. For example, mine is LYRICS. So I type in LYRICS. Thats all I had to do; simple.

OK. I didn't realise that tags had different tag names. I always thought it was simply called "Lyrics". I will check it out. I still need to find out why I cannot change background and font colour. It is presently lime green font with a white background which is very hard to read.

Also. Is there a way to get Dockable Panels to remember the Lyrics Show Panel so I don't have to set it up every time I open foobar2000?

Dockable Panels should not disappear between sessions.

Right Click on the Lyric Panel and select settings and you should be able to change bg/font.

If these settings aren't sticking it soulds like you have a profile issue (both should work this way with default settings.)

Question for T. P. Wang (unless someone else cares to answer) :

Could you please try to answer questions 2/ and 3/ from the first post ? (assuming we're using foo_uie_lyrics of course).

Thanks for your help. smile.gif

I still cannot get it to read lyrics. I have encoded my MP3s with LAME and have tagged using Tag&Rename.
What am I doing wrong?

1. You should check your "LYRICS" tag first, ensure it exists. ("LYRICS" tag is NOT "Unsynced lyric/text" or "Synced lyric/text", which can be read in wmp, some portable mp3 players, NOT supported by Lyric Show)

2. Make sure content in "LYRICS" tag is valid.

3. You can change font color. If there's no lyric displayed, Lyric Show will display formated content in "Formating String", which you can edit color and font in a tab called "Formating String".

4. If you have "Transprant background" enabled, you cannot change background color.

5. You cannot change background color of a font, there is not a setting about that.

OK. I have fixed the background. It was set to transparent.

How do I make sure my LYRICS tag is valid? It works in many other players. As I said, I used Tag&Rename for my tags.

Also. If I close Lyric Show, it needs to be reset next time. I don't need it all the time, so I like to be able to close it. But if I do that, then I have to get a New panel next time.

I think you didn't read carefully about this:

What I want to say is that "lyrics" in Tag&Rename is not the one in TAG, instead, it's a build-in frame(you can refer to the ID3 doc).
The one in TAG I mean is a custom frame which name is "LYRICS", which can be read/edited in fb2k and mp3tag.

P.S: I think you should set TAG to "UNSYNCED LYRICS" in Lyric Show Panel setting.

OK. UNSYNCED LYRICS works. I always managed to change the font colour.

Now. There is a large space above the first line and below the last line in the lyrics. Is there a way to remove this?

I am quite calm as I always am in everyday life. Maybe I should be telling you this. After all, you are the one who is annoyed.

I just find it amazing that someone can actually get annoyed at something so trivial. Can you imagine how a person like this might react if something serious happens in life? It is not a good way to live. I am very sincere when I say this.

If someone is genuinly offended or annoyed at what I posted, they should have had the manners to PM me and explain that they are finding the post difficult to read. They should also have posted the same to other bigger and longer serving offenders than me.

And what is even more amazing is that the quoting is done by numerous people in numerous threads who have been here for a lot longer than me and have quite high post counts. Yet, someone decides to single me out who has only joined this forum a few days ago. Is this the way to treat a newcomer to the forum?

Sincere regards,

dypsis

PS: My previous posts were NOT sarcastic. I have a genuine concern for people who I feel overreact to trivial matters.

PS Addendum: I actually find quoting beneficial. Especially when you only wish to reply to excerpts of a particular post. It makes it clear and concise as to what you are responding to.

"+1" to Jose Hidalgo and q-stankovic. The only correct answer to Jose's first remark is something like: "Ough, sorry, guys, I didn't think I made it wrong. It won't happen again, cause I want to be read and get answers to my posts in future." All other answers including "Everybody around does the same bad things so do I!" are wrong.

Nothing personal.

So how about that L.S.P. mod...?

Quite something isn't it

Really loving the scrolling of the non-timestamped lyrics...

Anyhoo,
All of my fellow lyric loving audiophiles should definitely take a moment to have a gander at the compelling poll/thread started by our very own Jose Hidalgo. Please take a moment to share your ideas, thoughts or comments. I think we could possibly change the way lyrics (online DB's and personal libraries) are handled with this one!

Thanks!

i have another request:

it would be really nice if the settings of the lyric show panel would be saved in the panels ui config (*.pui file) so that users who download a theme don't have to make the settings manually.
Jose Hidalgo
Wow ! The "Rate lyrics in context menu" option is great ! biggrin.gif I hope lots of people are going to use it, so that we can get reliable ratings soon. People, please take a bit of your time and give ratings to your favorite song lyrics !!! Thank you.

Of course, it would be awesome if LSP would optionally replace an already stored lyric with no rating (or with a low rating) with a lyric with a higher rating. Will this be implemented ?

Example to make this clear :
- Let's assume we have a given lyric stored, either within the music file, or in a separate .lrc or .txt file. This lyric has been downloaded before the rating system. So it has no rating at all, but we can assume chances are big that it's not perfect.
- Next time the music file is played, LSP looks online for lyrics, finds a lyric with a good rating (4 or 5), and optionally replaces the existing lyric.
- If the rating is not high enough (< 4), LSP does nothing.
Chaser
Jose Hidalgo - great idea!

It seems that last version (maybe not the only last, I've just noticed it) has a bug? I set plugin's save scheme like "Embed to file", and I have "Replace nontimestamped lyrics automatically" checked. Now I see that if file has embedded nontimestamped txt-lyrics inside and plugin is able to load .LRC equivalent from Internet (I verified it), nothing happens and nontimestamped lyrics left in place. It's sad...

EDIT: Yes, I had a little test and found - "0.3.1.2 Alpha 3" worked ok, seems something was broken a bit while recompiling to "0.3.2.0 Alpha 1".

Hi:
I'm using this plugin to show exclusively embedded lyrics.
It always draws them starting from the middle of the panel, the upper 50% of the panel is empty.
I've tried all the display settings without success.
My mp3's are properly tagged without any white space at the start of lyrics, so... I have no clue.
Anyone has any idea about what could cause this behaviour?

The older versions of the same panel (from some months ago) did behave well in this respect.

Thanks!

hey, just tried this component, its great. i only have one request. give the lyric show panel a class name so i can use girder to detect its presence.

actually now that i play with it more i found a way for girder to detect it. it would be nice to be able to scroll hte lyrics with the up/down keyboard keys though.

So.. I have a quite old version of the plugin and came here to see if the thing that bugs me the most was... corrected. I'm gessing not.

So.. you think eventually we will be able to get lyrics vertically aligned in the middle by default eventually? Everytime the lyrics loads, the first line starts at 50% vertically so I have to drag it up everytime so I can see the whole thing.
Looks like i'm not the only one who would like to see this.. fixed. Thanks alot for the nice component by the way.

great man, my cpu usage was at ~23% when the lyrics panel was not displayed and 40-60% when it was active. now its back down to 0-2% and 15-20% when the panel is shown.

I use Columns UI and have a tab stack with the Album Art Panel, Playlist Switcher and Lyrics Show Panel. If I select the Album Art Panel and after the restart of foobar the Lyrics Show Panel is in the foreground, although the Album Art Panel is still selected.

After I have switched between Album Art and Lyrics Panel and back, it shows the album cover.

The same with the playlist switcher panel.

T.P

The XM plugin retrieves song titles and artists (they show up correctly in Playlist View), but the title formatting is odd; other components show the channel name as %title%

i.e. when I open the "80's" channel, Lyric Show pulls up a Robby Williams song titled "80's"

While I would love to get them to work together, I would settle for being able to disable associations for the streams.

As always, thanks for your time.

not a bug.
You can't have your cake and eat it too.

I believe it will be annoying if you enable scroll and it's scrolling so fast that you will miss some text lines.

So it's better to leave such a blank on top.

No. There is no blank on top. The lyrics are cut off. The top portion is missing.
The first few lines are missing.

sorry to say but that did not work.
The texts first line starts at the middle of the panel and the text then scrolls up, keeping the momentary lyrics in the middel of the panel.

edit:

The text should be shown initially with its first line at the top of the panel.
Then the indicator highline should scroll down on the text line by line until it is in the middle (or option to let it scroll down selected number of lines) of the panel.
Then the text should scroll up under the indicator highline
