I have a Creative SB live 24 bit USB external, original driver and Goldwave program on win XP.I would like to record an analog source in 24 bit 96K(at least 24 bit 48K).
So how can I know that the capturing is in 24 bit, I saw a post saying that the WDM problem of 24-bit recording in win XP shifts the data back to 16 bit.
I hope i can get a unmodified A/D 2496(2448) data from the Creative SB live 24 bit external to the Goldwave or else
Get Sound Forge 6 (8 or 9 will do but their waveform display is not as smooth in operation). Make sure you are in 1:1 horizontal zoom ratio, otherwise Forge will draw the waveform in 16-bit. Now zoom in vertically with Shift+Up keys as far as you can. Check how silence (noise floor) is recorded, or examine long fadeouts if you don't have any silence available.
Forge will alow you to zoom in vertically up to ratio 1 pixel : 2 sample values.
