I downloaded and installed the playlist tree plugin, but cant figure out how to use it, I see the menu for it when I right click on the playlist switcher, but dont really understand the options. Arent I supposed to be able to make cascading playlists with this plugin?

Have you configured your layout to show the PL Tree panel? If not, go to Preferences->Columns UI ->Layout and right click and add the PL Tree panel.

I figured out how to get the panel displayed, now i'm just wondering how to use this- I thought it could be used to make collapsable playlists

What do you want it to do? It is actually very very powerful.

I finally figured it out- as usual it just took plenty of clicking around
