I've recently encoded my collection to MAC but then i transcoded it to FLAC using multiencoder (cuz my Kenwood Music Keg supports FLAC)......but there is one thing that i am interested in: IF future versions (1.0.5?) will compress wav's better than 1.0.4 will it be possible to transcode all my 1.0.4. flac's to newer 1.0.5 thus making files EVEN smaller??

Thanks in advance

There was a thread about it yesterday on the portal, can't find it now though. No, compression wont be better in v1.05...

All i am trying to understand is that will all the modifications and updated features of future releases of FLAC be transferred when transcoding from older (1.0.4) flac to a newer one....

I don't know what multiencoder is so I can't answer. If it's done right all the metadata will transfer over fine. The stream format is the same.

There are improvements to 24-bit compression in 1.0.5 but I'm not sure if the music keg will able to be decode real-time. It will be close, but 24bit/44.1kHz may still be OK.

Well......Keg has solid FLAC support so i am sure he will playback 1.0.5 flacs just fine....
