Full Version: Exporting playback statistics and things like ratings

I am reformatting my windows XP install as it is once again filling up with way too much junk - my foobar is nice and setup, and I don't want to loose my first played, last played, play count and rating statistics (those are the main ones).

What do I need to export/copy/toggle to ensure that I can just paste the saved file onto the fresh install of foobar with all my nice statistics? Cheers.

I'm using official playcount by the way, and for rating it is just a <RATING> tag.

The rating tag is already written to the file (unless you're using custominfo) so that's not a problem.

As for playback statistics go to Preferences -> Advanced -> Playback Statistics and select the option that says "syncronize file tags". Now make an autoplaylist that has all the files containing play_count (e.g. query would be NOT play_count MISSING). Right click them, Playback Statistics -> Syncronize information.

So I'm guessing I don't actually need to export anything, because all the correct tagging information will be embedded in the mp3s and flac files after the syncronization of the information?

Cheers for replying so quick by the way.

Yes, the information will be in the files.

You should zip your foobar directory if you wish to retain your foobar preferences, display styles etc.

The settings may be stored in the %appdata%\foobar2000 directory, so back that up too if it exists.

Cheers, quick and helpful!

Co-sign what the other two said. The official playback statistics component stores play count/last played etc in the .cfg. Make sure you back up both your Program Files F2K folder and the Application Data F2K folder too. After you've reinstalled XP, just paste those folders back into place, after installing F2K again of course, and you'll be good to go smile.gif

the Application Data F2K folder too

Is that:
C:\Documents and Settings\%username%\Application Data ?

If so, there isn't a f2k folder inside there. Or am I not looking hard enough?

Then you're not using User Profile no need to worry. I don't have one too. Even if you use foo_custominfo to store any kind of info you won't lose it if you back up the foobar folder and its application folder if needed. You just need to keep your partition names (like C: D:) the same as before and restore those files and folders after reinstall foobar.
In case you install/extract foobar to a non-system partition and you didn't use User profile support you don't even need to reinstall foobar (you can reinstall if you like to the same folder). You only need to keep your partition name order (can be changed using Disk Management) like before and just go where you put foobar and run foobar2000.exe.
