Is anyone aware of an automated way to export album art from id3 tags to a jpg?

mp3tag can do that for you, just google it

I actually tried to use mp3tag, but it can only do one album at a time.
On top of that, it seems to choke on my large collection. By the time its loaded all the tracks its using up over 1.5GB of ram.
dBpoweramp R12 has this install the Update ID Tag utility codec.
Use Batch converter, select the root folder click Convert then select Update ID Tag and choose the export .jpg option.
