I've always wondered if everyone has a "in-head music player" that can sometimes refuse to stop playing some annoying piece of music?

Right now i've got this annoying rap tune that i just cant get out of my head headbang.gif
Damn that stupid radio that was playing the tune when i walked by mad.gif

Sometimes I go to bed with a tune in my head and it's still there when I wake up. blink.gif

It does generally seem to be triggered by subconscious listening - like catching a glimpse of a track on a passing radio, or background music in an advert.

Do the Shake 'n' Vac and put the freshness back. Do-ooo the Shake 'n' Vac and put the freshness back...

...when your carpet smells fresh, your room does too-oo-oo, every time you vacuum, remember what to do...

Oh don't, SynSoul, you've got me started!

The worst thing is when you only know a few of the lyrics and the rest is "nah nah nah", yet you still can't get it out of your mind. I find that playing something I find infectious but that know and love well is the best way to shake it, but it can still resurface hours later. I've now replaced the theme to Mr Benn from my childhood with an 80's advert for carpet freshener! Time to dig out an Ernest Ranglin's Congo Man antidote, though I'll probably be onto the theme from Airwolf next.

A couple of weeks ago, my brother had a bit of Commodore 64 game music on his mind and couldn't work out for the life of him what it was. Neither could I.

Spent far too much time that evening trawling through SID files on lemon64.com and finding YouTube videos of an orchestra and the band Press Play On Tape each performing fabulous live versions of Rob Hubbard's Monty On The Run theme. Eventually found out it was one of the tunes in Super Pipeline that had been haunting us.

I know, it was cruel.

Many years ago a couple of friends and I spent a couple of months up in the Sierra Nevada mountains in an old cabin. No electricity. The strange thing was my lust for music manifested itself after a week or so by me bursting into advert jingles sporadically - Shake 'n' Vac being a prime favourite - although not with my housemates...

Hmm... touché. At least there's no words to remember...

I love the Rob Hubbard stuff. When I was younger I recorded the Thrust theme onto cassette and listened to it for pleasure. I really like the Delta theme, but later found out that it was really a rip of/hommage to Peter Glass' Koyaanisqatsi. I have the HVSC on my PC here at work. biggrin.gif Time for some nostalgia I feel...

I love Thrust too, and also recorded numerous C64 tunes onto tape for pleasure when I was younger. That HVSC looks awesome. Ghostbusters was good too, but another frenetic favourite was Shaun Southern's (I think) One Man And His Droid. Now and again I feel the need for that kind of nostalgia trip or BBC Sporting Themes/The Great Sporting Experience.

rap is like,er,kind of hardware error, esp.when you listen to bad tapes or cd in early years....

And to me,there is a playlist in my head scrolling, cuz I always have my headphone on,so the tune stay on my mind is always a song I just listened to in past 1 or 2 days....

The old Crystal Bernard anti-evolution classic "Monkey Song". Catchy hook with an anti-science bent! Yay! (google "monkey song evolution" or similar...)

"I'm no kin to the monkey, no no no,
the monkey's no kin to me yeah yeah yeah.
I don't know about his ancestors,
but mine didn't swing from a tree!"

Trainwreck56
Lamb of God - Laid to Rest...been smashing it out all day lol
stib
I always call that the "brain radio".

Mine gets stuck on the music my kids listen to, like the Wiggles or Justine Clarke. Aaargh!

For me, it's like a chronic disease. The last I song I hear, at any point in time, stays with me until I hear a different one - whether it's a day or a week. Therefore, I have to be VERY careful what I listen to last before walking away from my computer during the day, and even more so just before going to bed.

Do you know how hard it is to read The Iliad with Tommy Tutone running through your head? blink.gif

"Thus he spoke, and the Achaeans roared applause. Jenny, Jenny, you're the girl for me."
