Full Version: Looking for 32bit float capable lossless compressor..
Hydrogenaudio Forums > Lossless Audio Compression > Lossless / Other Codecs

The lossless codecs I found so far are wavpack and optimfrog, think I read something about tta but I'm not sure on that.
I know that optimfrog takes longer to compress, so I guess it is also more cpu-intens. True?

The purpose is to compress audio during recording, so it is less stress on the harddisk.
It is currently realised via wavpack and it works well, I'm just curious if there are alternatives to wv.
The app is the crossplattform daw traverso: http://traverso-daw.org/

Better use WavPack.

Wavpack is already in use, I'm looking for a second option.
TAK can't handle 32bit float, can it?

See this one esp. the 4th chart
http://squeezechart.freehost.ag/audio.html
(for 32-bit float compression)
and this

(for encoding and decoding speed, and 16-bit compression).
