Where to buy a Cheap SoundCard with C-Media CMI8768 or CMI8738 Chipset & SPDIF in the US??
Leto Atreides II
There's a list of cards on d0gbert's CMI 8768/8738 driver page:

You can search around the net for some of those.

The Turtle Beach Riviera 5.1 is 25$ cheap and widely available in the US. Also, there are lots of unbranded cmedia soundcards on the market for even less than that - the only thing you should look for is that it has SPDIF ports.

Thanks for the reply Dogbert. Good to hear from the Boss himself.
I have already wasted enough money on a Sound Blaster card that I bought when I had no idea about bit-perfect and SPDIF passthrough.
Hence I am looking for the cheapest possible solution.
I am actually looking for those unbranded ones. I have no idea where to get them in the US. I was unable to find any even in Ebay.
Can you suggest any links??

BTW......does the card need to have a SPDIF (Optical/Coaxial) jacks?? Or a 4 pin SPDIF header is just enough, since I can take out coaxial output from it........and such cards will be even more cheaper (because it uses few less parts)

This is another C-Media based card with low profile: http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-AOPEN-COBRA-AW870L...1QQcmdZViewItem
An offer from an internet shop: http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/Se...&CatId=2771

A good keyword for searching in the "Sound Cards for Desktop PC" category on ebay is "optical". You'll find lots of "Dynex SC-5.1" cards which are based on the VIA Envy chip and thus not compatible with my driver though.
