I bought a new digital reciever a couple of months ago and it sounded great. Lately, for some reason the bass and highs do not sound as strong. I can't tell....is this just in my head because I got used to it or do digital recievers sound qaulity degrade after an initial use period?
I vote for the head thing.

Receivers come with PRE-CONFIGURATION settings for "ambient sound" like "Pop", "Rock", "Ballroom", "Jazz", "Blues", sort of thing... Perhaps you were listening to a determined setting but then someone or something changed this pre-setting to a lighter one without bass with loads of treble? Check that out. I can't think of anything else but this.
Yeah, especially the "Rock" setting is likely to be the faulty one, if it's about less bass and treble.
Otherwise, I guess the idea about offering a human sacrifice would be the best possible course of action, though I'd address it to the almighty Devils of Music instead of those lousy Audio Gods.
Has anything changed in the listening environment, furniture moved, curtains, etc.?
