1) When Ogg Vorbis 1.1 will be relased?
2) How about adding Speex to forum as Hogh Quality FOR SPEECH?
3) I`m making new Ogg Vorbis & other codec page in Polish language. How about making "Ogg (Vorbis)resources for webmasters" - links, files etc. - resources to fill new websites about Ogg - IN ONE PLACE. People from forum will (I hope so) help collecting informations.
4) Changing Ogg License - Ogg Vorbis will still be free etc. but user of Ogg Vorbis (Game Makers etc.)must make on (game) webpage banner "Powered by Ogg Vorbis, copyright..." with link to www.Vorbis.com or elsewhere

I search for information about:
a) games using Ogg Vorbis. I already know: Operation Flashpoint, Unreal Tournament 2003, Duke Nukem Manhattan Project, Sims for Mandrake Linux, Serious Sam: Second Edition

B) music bands using Ogg Vorbis (for promotion etc.)

c) legal sources of Ogg Vorbis-encoded files including music shops

d) web pages with Listening Tests results

e) hardware players (including www links)

f) Ogg Vorbis radios (I know, BBC)
fragtal
good idea!

i've got some few suggestions, that might help:

d) ff123 audio test page is quite kewl: http://ff123.net/

e) http://www.kiss-technology.de/ it's the only player, that supports vorbis for sure!

Who knows. I'll start work on GT3 near the ending of february if all goes well, you can name that Vorbis 1.1 if you wish to.

There's quite a bit of Speex stuff in here, but not enough to give it it's own forum I think.

OK, lets start making "Ogg Vorbis Webmaster Resources". I will add comment and.or links tomorrow. Most of links i saw on this forum. I will copy links & comments from answers to this post.

1) Games:
Mafia, James Bond 007: Nightfire, Operation Flashpoint, Unreal Tournament 2003, Duke Nukem Manhattan Project, Sims for Mandrake Linux, Serious Sam: The Second Encounter, Nascar Racing games from Papyrus, Candy Cruncher, Pretorians, Apache Air Assault, MusicVR game by Mike Oldfield, Shogun: Total War used vorbis, but only to ship the music - it decompressed on install. Also: Unreal II: The Awakening and American Conquest use Ogg Vorbis smile.gif Also:
Celtic Kings;Star Trek: Away Team;Schimz;Rock Manager;Harry Potter II (chamber of secrets);Ur-Quan Masters...

NOTE: You can search for vorbis.dll or ogg.dll or something like that in games directories. Maybe search for "Vorbis" in main executable of game...

While I agree that Speex doesn't need its own forum, I think that a "speech" forum would be a good idea.

That's roughly equivalent to the "BSD with advertisement clause" license and it would be a really bad idea. One of the effects is that it would make the license incompatible with the GPL, which is kind of bad for an open codec.

BBC ogg support page

It seems we won't be getting bbc ogg streams in the near future after all. So you can cross that one the list sad.gif

On a more positive note, here's some ogg links:

tokyodawn netlabel - "no media-hustling/dotcom-pimping/corporal structures/ads/etc, just highquality+free ogg downloads.."

Why artists should be using ogg vorbis - self-explanatory really

WCPE - a classical radio station in ogg vorbis

ogg radio stations - evolution was the best for me

So it seems lots of people are embracing ogg biggrin.gif

If I can fix it, yes. But the problems with it don't seem trivial - I've had some help from Monty but it still blows up occasionally.

Forum links exchange is not good.

I think Vorbis website needs a link indexing script wink.gif

1) I think the game "James Bond 007: Nightfire" has some OGG stuff...
Cobra
Small Update: Unreal II: The Awakening and American Conquest (game like Cossacks) use Ogg Vorbis smile.gif

Truth must be told: majority of new games use Ogg Vorbis smile.gif I`ll also send e-mail to BC3000AD maker to use Ogg Vorbis in latest product (BC Generations).

Do they still use the RC2 at 64kbps for Unreal 2 like in UT2003?
Cobra
In UT2: TA some files are in 64kbps RC3 (speech amd RARE music). Some 160kbps, some >200kbps.

In American Conquest - Ogg Vorbis 1.0, Q=4

Hey, guyz !
Wait a moment !

I think the best way to help is to submit infos @ Vorbis.com website (even if i think that a link indexing script could help)

To Vorbis zealots: keep in touch with fwdprojects@email.it they have an interesting project that aims to make Vorbis a legal share format of choice, even for majors !)
Cobra
Pretorians (http://www.praetoriansgame.com) use Ogg Vorbis 1.0 Q=4.

IMHO Ogg Vorbis _IS_ standard... for game industry only (for now). I don`t think game makers will switch to MP4 since they will (probably) have to pay for using MP4 in games like now - they pay for using mp3/mp3PRO. More than 1/2 of relases use Ogg Vorbis, i think.

PS. This music from Pretorians is... very nice :)

Games added to list (from Xiph list):

Speech would be quite useless too, IMO. Besides Speex, there are few (or no) speech codecs of interest to this community. I rarely saw anyone discussing Acelp.net, g729, Qualcomm PureVoice or MPEG4 CELP.

I still vote for an "Other Formats" forum, where codecs like WMA, Real Audio, Speex, ATRAC, ePAC, etc. could be discussed.

Roberto.

Pirates of the Caribbean uses Ogg Vorbis - ~96kbps.

Strange is version of Libvorbis... "Xiphophorus libVorbis I 20011231"
Cobra
Lionheart: Legacy of the Crusader uses Ogg Vorbis. I can`t acces.ogg files but there is text about using Vorbis from Xiph - in Credits.

bitrate_nominal = 128
codec = Vorbis
vorbis_vendor = Xiphophorus libVorbis I 20010813
