Full Version: Annoying Issue with EAC

I use EAC .95b4 and wavpack for ripping from audio CDs. EAC is able to copy selected tracks/range with the correct extension (.wv), but for some reason when I try to use copy image + cue sheet compressed, it defaults a .wav in the file.

For example, album.wav.wv is what would come out as image + cue compressed. It is a wavpack file and it does work correctly but I don't want to be renaming my file every time I would have to rip an album!

Here is a screenshot of how I have my compression options set at.

Saving the file shows that it tries to default a .wav in the end as shown in this screenshot below. If I weren't to erase the .wav there, I would end up with a double .wav.wav before the extension.

My EAC log also reports the problem.

Is there a problem in my configuration? Could it be a problem in the registry?

Nope. It's a fairly well-known bug, IIRC (I'd know better if I ripped WavPack images). It shouldn't be too hard to create a workaround with a batch script, but I'd see if it's been fixed in V0.99pb3.

EAC has had issues with non-three letter file extensions (e.g.: WV, FLAC, LA) for as long as I've been using it. It won't do this with APE, MP3, etc AFAIK.

I use REACT with EAC, which works around this issue, although as greynol says you could use a batch file if you have the knowledge (and I don't mean taxi drivers).

I think I may have found what the problem may be. I did some trial and error on the EAC settings and it seems like EAC is trying to save it as the format under the waveform tab. I changed the settings so that it would save as ape in the waveform tab, and then reenabled the external compression. It would add a .ape to the file name instead of a .wav like last time.

I then tried to do something to make sure that this was causing the problem all along. Using the waveform tab again, I made it to save as PCM and checked on the Do not write WAV header to file box and emptied out the text box. After that I then reenabled external compression again, attempted to save image + cue, and end up with a . in the end of the filename instead of a .ape or .wav.

I have tried using REACT, but I gave up when I had to configure a bunch of stuff in the ini (sorry, just lazy about that tongue.gif ) and I really don't know how to write batches.

Hopefully this bug is fixed in the future. For now I will just have to rename the files and edit the cuesheet every time I rip with EAC.

The Extension issue has been fixed in EAC v0.99pb3, so go the website and download yourself a copy. I hope your not too lazy to do that! tongue.gif

Thanks drbeachboy! The version you told me has indeed fixed that bug. Next time I'll personally check newer versions of programs or drivers I have trouble with before posting about it.
