I've noticed that most of the music discussed here is western music even though HA members are from all over the world. I'm listening to homegrown music more and more these days and would like to share what we have here in the Philippines. At the same time, I'd like to hear recommendations from other people from around the world.
Here are 5 to start. I'll be linking to music videos in Youtube to pique your interest.
1. Sinosikat - their 2nd single So Blue is classic Manila sound which is completely different from their first Turning My Safety Off which reminds me of Massive Attack and Portishead.
2. Up Dharma Down - they recently had a favorable review from Time. Here are three songs: Maybe, Pag-agos, Oo. Their singer's voice is amazing.
3. Wolfgang - the late great gods of pinoy rock. These tracks were taken live: Hell Looks, Center of the Sun
4. Urbandub - probably my favorite local band of all time. Alert the Armory, Endless a Silent Whisper
5. Imago - we have a lot of talented female singers here and it takes a LOT of talent and charisma to stand out. Take a look: Sundo, Akap.
