Full Version: Strange glitches on Eagles "Hell Freezes Over" DVD

I got a 2005 version of the Eagles "Hell Freezes Over" DVD, and it's fine, except for the Hotel California track. That track has glitches all over it, from crackling to clicking. Now all other live versions of the song that I could get hold of (Youtube videos, iTunes, an old MP3 from an unknown source) don't have those artifacts. Other tracks don't seem to be affected. Also, it's on all audio tracks (Surround, DTS and PCM) and with all players (tried a standalone DVD player's analog output, digital output to a receiver that can do DTS decoding, VLC and mplayer).

I have attached a small low-quality sample from the track with some audible glitches in it.

Is that crap normal for the DVD, or should I return it?

I never experienced anything like that when I made my copy (digital rip while playing in Apple DVD Player). Perhaps your copy is damaged? I have it in AAC 128 vbr if you'd like?

Nah, if other people say that the 2005 DVD is usually clean, I'll simply return it. It's just strange that those artifacts are only in that single track.

(update) RMA'd the disk, got a replacement. Seems to be an error at least in the batch, if not the mastering process for the 2005 edition. UMG doesn't answer (well, duh...). I'll now be talking to Amazon, see if they can dig something up.
