I'm trying to use this LAME command line to make a reduced bitrate copy of several high bitrate mp3's, but its giving me an "excess arg" error citing the destination filename.

lame.exe -v 5 --vbr-new "file 320.mp3" "file 128.mp3"

Hold the editorials about why I want to do this please, and just let me know what's wrong with my syntax.

Assuming I can make this work, is there a way to keep the ID3 tags intact during the conversion?

Thanks,
Limekiller
Synthetic Soul
-V 5, not -v 5.

Easiest way would be to use foobar, or some other converter that would copy the tags.

lame.exe -v 5 .... should be an upper case V; lower case has a different meaning altogether.

Edit: Doh, should have read Synthetic Soul's reply properly!!

Thanks for the help. It never occured to me the thing might be case sensitive.
