When I add a large number of my MP3s to a playlist (via File > Add Directory), foobar2000 takes a while to "process" them, which I assume means it is attempting to read their tags. My collection is mostly untagged; the raw filenames are acceptable for display. Is there a configuration option to prevent the reading of tags altogether, or only read them upon playback? Is there any other way to speed up the adding of files to the playlist? I couldn't find one. I'd rather it not take several minutes to add a 10,000-song folder hierarchy. My files change often, so I just want it to be as simple as in Winamp, where I can point the player to a large set of untagged files and have them added quickly.
I saw that this is similar to the question asked a few weeks ago, but the responses there assumed a tagged collection. I also found I could set up a "by filename" view in the Library (%filename%), but that's no help; I'd still have to do a full rescan to pick up any changes.
