Hello,
I ran into a problem and would really appreciate some help. I've recently ripped my cd collection with dbPoweramp. I use fb2k at home and a portable Cowon D2 for my Flac files.

I have one folder containing the songs from a cd. There is this one song, when I try to open it in fb2k with "file" then "add files" fb2k says "the above filename is invalid". But when I do a "file" "add directory..." it loads the song and plays it fine. Also, when I do a "file" "add location..." and input the filepath it loads it and plays it ok. My Cowon sees and plays the file ok. The rest of the songs are ok. I also have one other folder containing one cd in which none of the files (about 12) work (invalid filename error returned by fb2k) if loaded as "add files" but will load and play if "add location" or "add directory" is used.

My fb2k version is 0.9.4.2.

Also, when I use Windows Explorer to go look at the file in question it will not let me copy it or rename it. I right click on the file and the only options are: Play in Foobar2000, Enqueue in Foobar2000, Open in Foobar2000, Open With and Send To as opposed to other files from same folder (cd) that will have the copy options and so forth.

Does the fb2k check for different things when you tell it to open an individual file versus a folder?? If so, why did it open it when "add location" option was selected??

Thank you!

These are symptoms of a too long file path.

Try to temporarily rename the parent folder(s) to a shorter name and then rename the file.
This should also make it possible to load it into the player again.

It's a problem of Windows and not foobar2000.

Please update to the latest foobar2000 version before reporting any problems.

Many thanks,

The filename size was exactly the problem.

Thank you again!
